Trekking around the Manaslu is an off the beaten trail alternate to the Annapurna Circuit, with great scenery, good mountain views and is a mixed culture trekking tour. You will enjoy strong cultural interest throughout the Manaslu trek at the beginning populated by Gurung Buddhists and go up to old-style Tibetan villages. The variety of the trek, from the Hindu middle hills to the Tibetan high-country dwellers,
The highest point of the trek is the Larkya La (5,134m). Manaslu Circuit Trek is distinctive in that we have side trips up the beautiful valleys including on the way to Manaslu base camp. The Buri Gandaki valley behind the Manaslu is one of Nepal’s most beautiful valleys. The trail passes by waterfalls and through villages surrounded by rice terraces and verdant fields in rich hues of green and yellow.
Manaslu region is remarkably rich in flora and fauna. Special permits are required for this trek as Upper Manaslu and the Tsum Valley are restricted areas due to their proximity to Tibet. These permits will be obtained by Happy Holiday Treks and Expedition and are included in the price of your holiday.
When it comes to trekking in Nepal, Manaslu trek is an off-the-beat trekking activity. It lies in the shadow of the Annapurna region, and so, other more popular treks are considered to be better than Manaslu trekking. Now, this is not necessarily true. Manaslu trek is one of those trekking journeys that offers everything to the tourists that ideal trekking in Nepal destination does. Whether you’re a nature lover, an adventure enthusiast, a curious researcher of cultures, or someone who’s just looking for a break from the mundane life in the cities, there is something for everyone in Manaslu Circuit Trek. Manaslu Circuit Trek is also known as Manaslu Larke Pass Trek, as it allows the trekkers to cross Larkya La Pass. It is a high altitude mountain pass situated at an elevation of 5106 m. Larkya La Pass is one of those attractions in Manaslu Larke pass trek that makes the journey exciting. But keep in mind that it is one of the most dangerous sections in the trek, and one needs to be careful while crossing it. These and so many other natural and cultural spectacles make the journey as good as other more preferred trekking trips.
Manaslu Trek is also known as Manaslu Round trek, as the journey takes you around Manaslu region. As a matter of fact, Manaslu Round trek is the best way to explore the Manaslu region. The region is comprised of so many beautiful villages, which are homes to the people belonging to indigenous tribes such as Gurung, Magar, Limbu, Sherpas, Rai, and so on. The region also houses Tibetan Immigrants, who migrated from Tibet to Nepal decades ago. And now, they proudly consider Nepal as their home. Some of the villages that you would come across during the journey include Machha Khola, Jagat, Deng, Dharamsala, Bimthang, and so on. Manaslu trek occurs in and around Manaslu Conservation Area, which is one of the richest protected areas when it comes to the population of rare and endangered species. During Manaslu trek, you will make your way through the most beautiful forests with Rhododendron and Pine, and if you’re lucky, you might also spot a few of these wild animals. Manaslu trek lasts for a duration of 18 days. However, the trekkers walk only for a period of 11 days.
Manaslu trek difficulty level is marked at challenging, as it has all the elements that make trekking in Nepal difficult. First of all, it takes the trekkers to extremely high altitude, to be specific, as high as 5416 m. Now, this might pose a problem for the individuals who are not used to living at high altitude. The high elevation causes the weather to become unpredictable, generally windy and cold. If the trekkers are not prepared, they might fall sick, and find it hard to continue on with the journey. Manaslu Circuit trek difficulty level is marked tough also because, during the journey, there is a high chance for the trekkers to suffer from altitude sickness. The chances increase once the trekker crosses the height of 3000 m, but in this trek, the tourists remain above 3000 m for 7 days. Because of all these reasons, it is suggested that tourists must consult their doctors and evaluate their health conditions before going for a trek like this.
Manaslu trek was one of those activities that were largely impacted by the earthquake that occured in the year 2015. The number of trekkers coming for a trek in the Manaslu region was already quite low, and because of the earthquake, it went further down. The disaster levelled down the villages that offered food and accommodation facilities to the visiting tourists, and as a result of landslides, the roads got blocked. The drop in the number of tourists also occured because of the perception of the people. For a long time, it was believed that it was risky to trek in the region, mainly because the phase of the aftershocks wasn’t over yet. Barpak village, which was the epicenter of the earthquake lies quite close to the Manaslu trek route. Despite all these difficult days, currently, Manaslu Circuit trek after earthquake is performing quite well. Manaslu circuit trek after earthquake is quite safe to go for, all thanks to the locals, who rebuilt their villages and cleared the roads with the help of the government. Manaslu trek after earthquake has been receiving more tourists than it ever did. Its popularity has increased greatly.
When it comes to Manaslu Base Camp trek, there are two approaches that you can take. You can either go for a Manaslu Base Camp centered trek, or you can add a few days to your Manaslu Trek itinerary and cover Manaslu Base Camp. Manaslu Base Camp trek is a shortened version of Manaslu Trek. The route to Manaslu Base Camp deviates from Samagaon, which is one of the villages that you come across during Manaslu Circuit trek. When you choose the former option, you walk from Soti Khola to Samagaon, and instead of going to Samdo, you head towards Manaslu Base Camp. The trekkers generally spend one night at the base camp. The next day, they head towards Samagaon, and from there, the same way back to Soti Khola to end the trek. Manaslu Base Camp trek is, therefore, shorter, and still allows you to explore the majority of the Manaslu Region. Manaslu Base Camp is the best attraction of Manaslu Base Camp trek. It takes you as close as you can get to Mount Manaslu, and in the process, offers you excellent views of other significant peaks in the region like Ngadichuli, Himchuli, and so on.
The case with Manaslu Tsum Valley trek is exactly the same like Manaslu Base Camp trek. Here as well, you have two approaches to choose from. Either you go for a Tsum Valley centered trek, or you can add a couple of days to your Manaslu trek and cover Manaslu Tsum Valley. Though, around 60% of Manaslu Tsum Valley trek route is the same as Manaslu Circuit trek; it has a lot to offer to the trekkers. Tsum Valley is a holy place and a well known pilgrimage site for the Buddhists. It got the holy status in the early 16th century when Milarepa, a prominent Buddhist guru visited the valley, and meditated in the caves around it. Currently, these caves are significant tourist attractions, and are known as Milarepa Caves. Apart from this, you will also come across Mu Gompa and Rachen Nunnery, the two important Buddhist heritages in the region. On the trek, you will come across numerous structures like chortens, mani walls, stupas, and places wrapped in prayer flags that will constantly remind you that you’re in a Buddhist influenced region. Chokang Paro, Nile, Burgi are some of the villages here.
Apart from Manaslu trek, Manaslu region is also popular for Manaslu climb. With a height of 8163 m, Manaslu is the 8th highest peak in the world. It is also one of the most preferred mountains in Nepal when it comes to climbing. The mountain was first climbed in the year 1956 by Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu. They were members of the Japanese expedition. Since then, Manaslu Mountain has become more of a Japanese peak, as it is generally the first choice of Japanese climbers. The journey that takes you to the top of Manaslu summit is 46 days long altogether. The core climbing lasts for a duration of 28 days, whereas the rest of the time is spent either acclimatizing, sightseeing around significant tourist attractions, or travelling from one place to another. The climbers also tend to trek for quite some time, before reaching the Manaslu mountain and after descending down from Manaslu summit. Overall, the climbers trek for a duration of around 9 days. Manaslu Base Camp trek route is the one that they follow to reach the base camp. The mountaineers can also travel to the base camp on a helicopter.

Cost Will Not Include:
Meal plan: Bed and breakfast in Kathmandu, all meals on trek.
Tea Houses: We use good tea houses available, The tea houses we use usually have twin sharing rooms. For a variety of reasons, e.g. size, unreliable communication, it is not possible to guarantee single rooms in advance at tea houses. Additionally, during the trekking season tea houses are very busy, and it goes against the ethos of mountain trekking to turn people away from shelter in lodges.
Best Months for getting to the Everest Base Camp.
The best times for getting to EBC are between early September to around the middle of November, before heavy snow begins to cause problems.
An alternate season is between the beginning of March after the snow has begun to melt, and the middle of May. As days get longer and the summer monsoon months begin, clouds will obscure the gorgeous views of distant Himalayan peaks. A benefit of hiking in the spring is seeing the trees begin to bloom.
