8-Day Everest lodge Trek,
Moderate trekking.

Many of us trekked to the Khumbu district’s Sherpa homeland with our eyes on Everest, but returned with fondest memories of the Sherpas, legendary mountain guides and climbers, stalwart friends. During this 10-day trek we explore the Khumbu with our Sherpa guide following old trails trimmed with mani walls, ambling through stone-walled villages, gazing up at monasteries set into cliffs, sipping Tibetan yak butter tea with our Guide’s friends.

We meet our Sherpa team after the magnificent flight from Kathmandu, and we’re off to Namche Bazaar, where we spend a day acclimating at leisure, wandering rocky lanes, roaming hillsides in search of yet another stunning view. Our route take us to Thame, near the 19,000-foot Nangpa La, the historic pathway into Tibet; to Khumjung, home of many of our Sherpas; and to the almost other worldly aerie of the Thyangboche Monantery. (And after we fly back to Kathmandu, remember to save a little room in your bags; it’s probably the best place in the world to find books on the Himalaya.)
